Ego Trip Home

This is the last thing I wrote for The Kuat, our volunteer newspaper. It's based on several things. One, the fact that I fear I won't be able to help but sound like an arrogant a-hole when I go home. When I was talking to some new volunteers, I didn't hear something and I said, "Que es?" Those kind of slips cannot happen at home.

There's also that other side, those things we let slip to sound cool. There was this guy in our hostel in Buenos Aires (see, there I go already), and he just kept bragging about all the places he'd been and about how he knew everything about B.A. and incinuating about how he was now too cool to return home to the U.S.

Also, remembering how before, when I was just someone who wish they traveled, how small I felt around people who were doing what I wanted to be doing.

So somewhere between those three places, and thinking about how it will be when I go home in June for three weeks, this came out. (Click on the image for a larger view.)
